Dash of Neon

Top: Loft
Scarf: Target
Jeans: Buckle
Shoes: Payless

I wasn't sure if it was too late in the season to be wearing a wool snood, but its neon pink seemed springy enough to me. Matched with a simple button down and some chunky gold jewelry were the perfect mix for a comfortable spring day. One thing about New York that California does not have are all the beautiful spring flowers. The one I'm holding is just a weed, but there are daffodils and tulips and lilacs growing wild! I'm pleased to say that spring has sprung.

April Sunshine

Sweater: Urban Outfitters
Dress: Target
Belt: F21
Shoes: Rack Room Shoes

I cannot be more thrilled that the temperatures are starting to warm up. Growing up in California and now going to school in upstate New York has been quite the challenge in adjusting to the new weather. But lets be honest here. I'm a Cali girl at heart and being able to bear my legs in April is essential. It's a part of who I am...kind of.

As I look through these pictures, they really don't do this dress justice. I'm kicking myself for not getting a close up of the pattern, neckline, and belt. Fortunately, I do have a close up of this dress stashed away from a previous post, so take a peek below and imagine that pattern with the outfit above.

Happy Weekend!

Hump Day

Top: Cotton On
Scarf: Forever 21
Skirt: Urban Outfitters
Boots: Payless

I was so close to not taking pictures today. My one cup of coffee was not holding me over and all I wanted to do was put on sweatpants and look like a slob. Although this outfit is nice, I think a sweatpants post would surely win any reader over. It could be titled "Sweatpants: The Future of Fashion." I'm waiting for the day for sweatpants to be in. That will be one of the happiest days of my life.

Happy Hump Day! The week is half over, which means that the weekend is that much closer. Two more days, folks! How I live for weekends, weekends and sweatpants. A perfect combination.

Do You Live in Arizona?

Flannel: Thrifted
Jeans: Target
Necklace: Nordstroms
Boots: Payless

Today was our first day back from Easter Break and the weather was cold, so, naturally, I wanted to be warm and comfy. I love flannels. The actual flannels. Not the plaid imitation flannels, but the kind that is soft and fuzzy and even sleep able.
My marketing professor asked if I lived in Arizona today. No sir, I live near Arizona, but not in Arizona. He said that my mix of orange and teal reminded him of something an Arizonian would wear. But seriously, who would even consider wearing a flannel in Arizona? Not I.

Learning

Jacket: Target
Top: Forever 21
Jeans: Buckle
Shoes: Payless

I am sure you have heard the phrase "writers block" before. I had something similar to that last week, but instead of my writing skills being stubborn, it was any skill whatsoever I had in putting an outfit together. I decided maybe a break from putting a lot of effort into my clothes was in order. I stuck mostly with comfy sweaters and warm boots. Lo and behold, fashion inspiration is seemingly creeping back into my life. Why hello there, little guy, it has been too long. I think I got caught into the whirlwind of the top bloggers; let me explain this. Many bloggers who have a good amount of followers typically also have a good amount of clothes. And by a good amount, I mean probably a lot more than the average person owns. And the result of this? Endless combinations to which each and every outfit looks completely unique and put together because they have so much to choose from. I was pressuring myself to look absolutely amazing everyday and became burnt out in the process.

So, what have I learned?

I have learned that I am a non working college girl, so I can't afford to buy all of the latest trends or have the perfect pair of flats in every color. I need to work with what I have instead of working with what I want. I don't have to look fantastic everyday because that's not possible. I will have my shining moments, but the majority of my outfits will just be nice. Everyday I reinvent and redefine my style and will come across new obstacles, but mostly the one I face almost every morning. The ultimate statement of "I have nothing to wear." Baloney. I have plenty to wear. Im just figuring out how to wear it.
